The Ouda Restaurant

The restaurant that bears the family name of its owners, was founded in 1972 by Ahmed Ouda, who was a fisherman by profession and owned a fish store. The family legend states that Master Ouda used to sit with Jewish friends at his fish store and set a big table for them, and they are the ones who encouraged him to open the restaurant. And indeed, in the past, the restaurant was a pilgrimage site for everybody who’s anybodyand the photographs of Prime Ministers, Presidents and Knesset members are hanging on the walls until today.
The Restaurant is very big (there’s also an events hall), the tables are covered with tablecloths and on them sheets of paper which are replaced before the guests’ arrival.
The menu is opulent: an assortment of salads, including the famous ful (cooked broad beans) humus, siniyawith a tomato mash and tehina, meat skewers and lamb chops, fresh fish and seafood from the assortment of fish brought by the fishermen of Acre on that day.
The place is managed by the family members, the children and grandchildren of Ahmed Ouda, who keep their father’s flame burning.
The meat served in the restaurant is kosher, but without a kashrut certification of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel.
The restaurant can accommodate up to 200 guests.
