It seemed as though a dance fairy touched the Kibbutz with her magic wand. Whether inside an old building or a new hall, in a room of Kibbutz founders or simply on a patch of lawn, everywhere people were dancing. However, the highpoint was at the dining hall, a building with an impressive architecture. Inside a huge hall divided into a number of areas, we discovered… you got it! Huge mirrors reflecting dozens of dancers dancing. Behind another partition dancers were bending their knees, practicing a new move; modern music blended with oriental sounds. A cocktail of harmonies and innumerous dancers scattered everywhere.

A visit to Kibbutz Ga’aton, the home and activity center of the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company turned into an International Dance Village, is a worthwhile experience for any person. Here visitors can meet Rami Be’er, the Company’s artistic director and a renowned world choreographer. They can coordinate a tour of the dance village, watch a film about the Dance Company, watch an experience yielding performance or a rehearsal, meet with the Company’s manager and dancers, participate in special workshops, tour the premises and eat on location.

There is no doubt: at Ga’aton, visitors can experience “dancing outside the box” first hand!
